Johansen IAS is the only home program to use customized CD's. Initial assessment includes gathering background information, the use of checklists, standardized tests and audiometry as appropriate for the age and abilities of the individual.

Johansen IAS is a home (or school) based Sound Therapy program which involves listeting to CD's with specially composed and recorded synthesised music for only 10-15 minutes daily for 9-12 months through over-the-year headphones.

The program reviews are carried out every 4 to 10 weeks depending on the age, when progress is discussed and a new listening audiogram is taken (if appropriate). A new CD is created, again customised to the individual needs of the listener. The program is always delivered by a trained, accredited Provider using approved quality equipment.

Customisation means that listening time is focused for maximum benefit in reorganising the auditory system. It also allows the flexibility to produce a very simple and slowly graded program for a hypesensitive listener or a more sophisticated program for a listener with subtle or very specific areas of inefficient auditory processing.

Johansen IAS music is specifically designed to stimulate the nerve pathways into and within the brain - in particular the areas dealing with language. It addresses underlying auditory processing which helps noticing, discrimination and organisation of the detail of sound. Better processing of the detail of sound increases concentration and attention, allowing more efficient learning.

Following Johansen IAS changes are also often seen in general composure, motivation and associated skills, leading to increased confidence and self-esteem.
